Loquil turns your voice into text. To do that it has to handle your voice and the text that comes out of it. This page says exactly what we handle, why, who processes it for us and for how long — in plain words.
Who is the data controller
Inakis S.r.l., registered office Galleria Passerella 1, 20122 Milan, Italy, VAT and tax code 11672560965. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account: email address, first and last name (optional), and either the password — kept only as a cryptographic hash, never in clear text — or the identifier of the Google or Apple account you signed in with.
- Your voice: while you dictate, the audio is sent to our service and forwarded to the transcription provider. It stays in memory for the time of the request: we do not save it on our servers and it is not written to any file.
- The dictated text: if you use the cleanup, rewriting, summary or translation features, the transcribed text is sent to the language-model provider that produces the final version. Here too, nothing is stored on our side.
- Usage counters: number of words, seconds of audio and model tokens per period. They serve to enforce your plan's quota and to work out costs. They are numbers, not content.
- Subscription: plan, status and expiry. Card details never reach us: the payment happens on Stripe.
The dictation history you see in the app stays on your device: it is never uploaded. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Why, and on what legal basis
- To provide the service you asked for — transcribing and tidying up what you dictate, keeping your account alive: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To count usage and prevent abuse of the free plan: legitimate interest in keeping the service working and sustainable (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To invoice and meet tax obligations: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
- To send you a few emails with tips on using Loquil and offers on the plans: legitimate interest in helping you get the most out of a service you signed up for (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, Art. 130(4) of the Italian Privacy Code). Every email has a link to turn them off, in one click and without signing in; service emails — words used up, payments, account security — carry on.
Who processes data for us
To transcribe and tidy up text we use specialist providers, which act as data processors and handle the content only to answer the single request:
- Transcription: Groq, OpenAI, Deepgram (United States).
- Text cleanup and rewriting: Anthropic (United States), DeepSeek and Alibaba Cloud (Qwen) where those models are selected.
- Payments: Stripe. Sign-in with Google and with Apple, if you choose them.
- Website visit statistics: Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited), only on loquil.app and only if you accept it. Never inside the apps.
- Hosting: our own server in Europe, where the database with accounts and counters lives.
Some of these providers are outside the European Union: the transfer relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to anyone for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Audio and dictated text: only for the time of the request. Nothing is kept afterwards.
- Account and usage counters: as long as your account exists, and up to 12 months after you delete it for security and abuse-prevention reasons.
- Accounting records: 10 years, as tax law requires.
The Android accessibility service
On Android, the dictation bubble works through the accessibility service. Loquil uses it for two things only: to know when a text field has focus, so it can show the bubble next to it, and to write the dictated text into that field. It does not read screen content for any other purpose, does not record what you type and collects no browsing data. Nothing about the fields you touch leaves your phone.
Cookies and website statistics
This site uses one technical cookie to keep you signed in, and nothing else that we could do without. It needs no consent: without it you could not stay logged in.
On top of that we would like to count visits with Google Analytics, to know how many people arrive and which pages are useful. It writes cookies on your device, so we ask you first: the strip at the bottom of the page appears on your first visit, and until you say yes nothing at all is sent to Google — not even the script. If you say no, the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind whenever you like from the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page.
Google Analytics tells us how many visits there are, roughly where from and which pages get read. We have turned off the sharing of this data with Google for advertising purposes, and Google Analytics is not present in the Windows, Linux, Android or iOS apps: it only exists on this website. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); the data stays for 14 months.
What we never do
No advertising, no profiling, no advertising identifiers, no advertising trackers. Inside the apps there is no measurement at all: no analytics, no telemetry. We do not train any model on your dictations.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to a processing based on legitimate interest. Write to [email protected]: we reply within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).
Deleting your account
Write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with, asking to delete the account. We delete the account, the subscription data and the usage counters; only what tax law requires us to keep stays. Uninstalling the app is not enough on its own: it removes the local history, not the account.
Children
Loquil is not meant for children under 14. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If the way we handle data changes, we update this page and the date at the top. Substantial changes are announced by email to registered users.
